Ulysses Dalton Brown was born in Indian territory, Oklahoma. His dad was killed before he was born and his mother was killed when he was still a small boy. His sisters weren't sure how old he was or what day he was born. When he joined the Army to serve in World War I he was assigned a birthday and his age was "documented". Zemily Brister was raised in east Texas but her family came from further east in Mississippi. |

They moved to Briscoe County in ? and settled in the southwest part of the county where they grew cotton, maintained an orchard and raised hogs. They had six girls and two sons. One son died at birth and the other son, Doyle lived to be almost 2. |
